President Biden tripped over his words Thursday in a major speech on 'Bidenomics' delivered to a supportive crowd of union workers at the Philly Shipyard in Philadelphia.
Biden stumbled over some of his words during the speech, at one point saying that"the middle class was built by the middle class."
"Unemployment is below 4%, the longest stretch of unemployment below 4% in the last 50 years," Biden said. Biden also said his policies have slashed the federal deficit by $1.7 trillion, that the Inflation Reduction Act made the"largest investment to combat climate" anywhere in the world , and he promised that building green infrastructure would lead to more good-paying union jobs.
Fact-checkers have also pushed back on the president. In June, Biden made the same claim about cutting the deficit by $1.7 trillion, which The Washington Post rated"highly misleading" as others also scrutinized the claim.
