... [+]: Joe Biden solidified his comeback in the Democratic race to defeat Donald Trump in the November election, leaving major upsets in his wake as rivals Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Mike Bloomberg failed to make the gains they had hoped for in key states.
Biden wins nine states: The former vice president, whose campaign appeared to be on life support just weeks ago after a poor showing in Iowa, was resurgent across several key states and is projected to win the key state of Texas over favourite Bernie Sanders, with 30% of the vote, a narrow lead over Sanders’ 28.3%.
But, Biden’s victory states barely saw him on the ground in the runup to Super Tuesday: He also won in Arkansas, Alabama, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Minnesota and Tennessee, but spent little to no time campaigning in those states, instead focusing on North Carolina and Virginia.
Warren also slips away, loses in her home state: Warren's loss in Massachusetts indicates a drop in support within her core support groups: women, liberal voters and white, college educated voters. Some have accused her of splitting the vote among progressives, in contrast to centrist candidates Amy Klobuchar and Pete Buttigieg who rallied round Biden at the last minute.
Sanders is projected to take California: The Golden State is the plum prize, with 415 delegates on the table, and Sanders, who went into the primary as the frontrunner, could win the majority of those,projects.
