President Joe Biden has condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin's missile strikes on Ukraine, adamant the attacks have only strengthened the United States's support of Ukraine in the war.
Biden denounced Russia for killing and hurting civilians in the salvos that"destroyed targets with no military purpose," conveying his condolences to the families and friends of people who"senselessly" died. The scale of Russia's offensive has not been seen since Putin invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24."They once again demonstrate the utter brutality of Mr. Putin’s illegal war on the Ukrainian people," Biden wrote Monday.
"We again call on Russia to end this unprovoked aggression immediately and remove its troops from Ukraine," he added. Biden, who spoke with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz last weekend, will take part in an emergency G-7 meeting this week alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The agenda is expected to include Putin's escalation, in addition to infrastructure resiliency and a Russian oil and gas price cap.Russia launched 75 missiles on Ukraine, 41 of which were shot down, Ukraine's Defense Ministry announced Monday, citing Gen. Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the Ukrainian Armed Forces commander in chief.
