President Biden on Wednesday met with new British Prime Minister Liz Truss in New York City — telling her that the UK is “our closest ally in the world.”
“I was amazed and overwhelmed by the affection of the British people and the world, quite frankly, even I mean the thousands and thousands of people who stayed all night just pay their respects was enormous,” Biden said told Truss.
“There’s no issue that I can think of a global consequence where the United States and United Kingdom are not working in cooperation. And I expect to continue to be able to do that,” Biden told Truss. The term “energy security” in US politics often is used by conservatives to advocate for greater domestic production of fossil fuels, generally in opposition to policies promoted by Democrats to discourage such energy sources in favor of options like windmills and solar power.
