President Joe Biden is standing with his son Hunter after the younger Biden pleaded not guilty to felony gun charges in Delaware, according to the White House.
"The president loves his son," press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Tuesday."He's going to continue to support him as he rebuilds his life."As Joe Biden keeps a light public schedule, Jean-Pierre declined to disclose"any private conversations that this president has with any member of his family."
"This is an independent Department of Justice investigation," she said."It has been ... led by one of the prosecutors from the last administration, and so, we're just not going to comment."Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to illegal gun possession charges during his arraignment on Tuesday in a federal court in Wilmington, Delaware. He was released on probation under the condition that he not use alcohol or drugs and"continue or actively seek" employment.
The first son was indicted last month by special counsel David Weiss on three gun charges related to allegations he lied about not being addicted to drugs when he filled out a form to purchase a revolver in 2018. A deal to avoid prosecution for a gun charge fell apart last summer in court.
