President Joe Biden on Thursday approved Ohio's request for a major disaster declaration following the devastating tornadoes in March.

The move allows more federal assistance in Auglaize, Crawford, Darke, Delaware, Hancock, Licking, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Richland, and Union Counties .
On March 29, Gov. Mike DeWine officially requested the declaration after FEMA completed damage assessments in the counties, which tallied the number of damaged structures at 349 "destroyed/major," 536 "minor," and 253 "affected." DeWine said the Small Business Administration identified nine businesses with damage and 28 with minor damage.
Assistance with the disaster declaration could include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover, the Biden administration said.
