Its name, SirDavis, is a tribute to her great grandfather, Davis Hogue, a farmer and moonshiner during the Prohibition Era.“When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whisky was fated. SirDavis is a way for me to pay homage to him, uniting us through a new shared legacy,” said Knowles-Carter in a statement.
The spirit, with a mash bill that includes 51% rye and 49% malted barley, is being finished, blended and bottled in Texas. SirDavis’ headquarters At $89, the notably barley-rich whisky has a secondary maturation in sherry casks and is intended to draw inspiration from the mouthfeel and texture of Japanese and Scotch whiskies. It isSirDavis has received accolades that include Best in Class for American Whiskey at the 2023 SIP Awards, in addition to a gold medal with a score of 95 from the New York International Spirits Competition and 93 points at the 2023 Ultimate Spirits Challenge.
