Beyoncé and Adele will again face off for the Album Of The Year award at the 2023 Grammy Awards as nominations were announced Tuesday.
Some major stars were noticeably missing from Tuesday's nominations, and it’s not because the Grammys forgot about them. Silk Sonic—Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars’ R&B duo—announced last month they did not submit themselves for consideration. Last year, their song “Leave The Door Open” won four awards, including Song and Record of the year, and it was largely expected their albumwould have received similar acclaim.
“We’d be crazy to ask for anything more,” Mars said. Drake and The WeekndTo be eligible for awards at the 2023 ceremony, music had to have been released between October 1, 2022 and September 30, 2023. Jon Batiste, who dominated last year’s nominations, won 2022’s Album of The Year for his work. And Olivia Rodrigo took home the highly-coveted Best New Artist award. The 2022 ceremony had to be postponed and moved from Los Angeles to Las Vegas because of the winter’s intense Covid-19 wave.
