Toyota plans to build a new 500,000-square-foot facility at its South Side plant to “bring ‘in house’ an operation” done by a third party outside Texas.
Bexar County will offer Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas Inc. close to $15 million in tax breaks for a half-billion dollar expansion of the automaker’s South Side manufacturing plant. County commissioners unanimously approved the subsidy package Tuesday. It waives nearly all county property taxes on the facility for 10 years, a subsidy valued at $14.69 million. Toyota will still have to pay taxes to the county’s Road and Flood Fund.
Toyota could get $24.4 million from city of San Antonio for $531.7 million plant expansion The company has revealed little about the purpose of the planned $531.7 million project, which is also in line for more than $24 million in subsidies from the city of San Antonio.
