Parliament warned against a scam using the name of National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula to defraud people.

According to a statement issued by Parliament, the scammers send an email from a Gmail account purporting to be that of the speaker, asking potential victims for their WhatsApp contact details to initiate a conversation."Once the email chat migrates to WhatsApp, the scammer, whose targets thus far have been several staff members of Parliament, then requests potential victims to urgently purchase them an iTunes voucher," according to the statement.

"The WhatsApp number used bears the name of the Speaker, but the profile picture is that of the National Council of Provinces Chairperson, Mr Amos Masondo."We live in a world where facts and fiction get blurred In times of uncertainty you need journalism you can trust.
