Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn is returning to Albuquerque for her upcoming show. Arriving at its conclusion late last year, Better Call Saul wrapped up as one of the best shows of 2022 and presented a strong argument for being regarded as one of the best dramas of all time.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Seehorn discussed reuniting with Breaking Bad creator and Better Call Saul co-creator Vince Gilligan for an upcoming Apple TV+ drama series. The project will film in Albuquerque, the key location in the Breaking Bad universe — even though, as Seehorn makes clear, it's not related to the Breaking Bad world. Seehorn's quote is included below:
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY As far as I know, it has not been nailed down where we’re filming, but I am never surprised. Vince is very loyal and likes the family of people that he has worked with and prefers to hire the same people over and over. So I could see lots of reasons why he would want it to be Albuquerque, but I can tell you that it doesn’t have anything to do with Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul.
The budget for the project is reportedly in the range of $13.5-$15 million an episode. This would put it in the range for a drama with genre elements, though not on the level of huge shows such as The Rings of Power and House of the Dragon. It's early yet, with no other major casting amounts, but Seehorn has shed some light on what the project means to Gilligan.
In the same interview, the actor recalls crying when she heard the pitch from the Better Call Saul co-creator. Seehorn talks about how Gilligan said that the idea had been brewing in his head for a while. Gilligan also noted that there were different elements of the story that eventually came together. By all accounts, even shrouded in mystery, it sounds well worth watching because of the impressive talent involved.
