There are lots of ways to experience the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8. The most obvious is to get yourself a pair of eclipse glasses, which you canif you’re quick. Everyone wants to know where to buy the best solar eclipse glasses, but few even know that there are a lot more options than plain cardboard designs.
Cue Eclipser HD, which look like sunglasses but use scratch-resistant black/silver polymer lenses made in the U.S. by American Paper Optics. Through them, the sun looks orange. Durable and comfortable, they’re ideal for keeping for a lifetime of solar eclipses—which is why they’re a favorite of eclipse chasers.The trouble with eclipse glasses is that the sun looks really small through them.
The only multi-use solar eclipse glasses option on the American Astronomical Society approved safe solar providers list, the Halo glasses have been around since 2017. Solar eclipse glasses aren’t for everyone. The alternative are solar viewers, small cards containing a panel of the same material used in eclipse glasses. They work the same way but must be held up in front of your face.
