Customers across the Houston area can now experience a new type of Best Buy store — one where they can ride electric bikes, browse treadmills outside the box and test out outdoor furniture for themselves.

Best Buy's Experience Store layout, first piloted in The Woodlands in 2020, has since expanded to stores in Katy and Sugar Land recently, as well as more than 40 locations across the country. This new type of store features an expanded range of products from normal stores, as well as more opportunities for shoppers to try before they buy.
Earlier this year, Best Buy announced it would expand its product offerings related to health and wellness, outdoor living and transportation to meet evolving consumer trends. These new product categories will all be available at Best Buy's Experience Stores, the company said in a statement. Electric bikes, scooters and mopeds, for example, will be on display and available to test ride. There will also be spaces dedicated to displaying outdoor furniture and cooking appliances from brands like Weber and Yardbird, which Best Buy acquired in 2021. Throughout the store, different products will be on display in their own showcase areas, such as projectors and treadmills.
The new store layout also comes with more space to cater to buy-online pick-up-in-store customers, such as a larger curbside pickup area and pick-up lockers that are open 24/7. Geek Squad — Best Buy's tech support service — will also occupy a space 25 percent larger than in a traditional store, the company said.
