PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has retained the position of chairman of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) as Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin faces off two others for the president's post.
The inaugural Bersatu polls also sees Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir vying for the president's post against Muhyiddin and an unknown Mohd Faiz Azli Sham.
Muhyiddin was nominated by Datuk Abu Bakar Mohamad while Muhkriz was nominated by his brother Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir and seconded by Marzuki.Bersatu party election committee chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar announced this to the media after nominations closed for the party polls at 3pm at the party headquarters on Monday .
Among them are Datuk Seri Abdul Rashid, Salahuddin Amiruddin, Mohd Nizam Mohd Noh, Datuk Seri Irwan Mohd, Mohd Shahni Ismail, Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Mohd Yusof, Sabri Mohd, Abdul Rashid Asari, Sabirin Jaafar, Mohd Radzi Jidin, Datuk Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen, Hadivshan Abdullah, Ramizal Basiran, Ronald Kiandee and Mazlan Bujang.
Incumbent Srikandi chief Datuk Seri Rina Harun is set to retain her post as she faces off four others including lawyer Azlina Mehtab Mohd Ishaq, Izza Ismail and Zuhuraina Makmur.
