Joel Lusk, 61, was reported missing on Oct. 9 after his wife was unable to contact him on his solo outing, the Sierra County sheriff’s office said. He had parked his car in Downieville on Oct. 6 and had taken his bike on a shuttle to Packer Saddle, in the Plumas National Forest. He had intended to ride the 15-mile Downieville Downhill route back to town, and then to drive to a campsite in the Lakes Basin, the sheriff’s report said.Around 11:40 a.m. Oct. 10, search teams found Lusk’s bike about 100 feet below the trail, the sheriff’s office said.
