Long-time Berea residents Phoebe and Leonard Skowron celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary July 23.
Their children hosted a small party for close relatives and neighbors at the Skowron family home, where the couple have lived for 73 years.
He earned a Victory Medal, American Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon and Philippine Liberation Ribbon. The Skowrons raised seven children in their Berea home, including John, Ruth S. Jones, Diane Spiegler, Carol Skowron and Sharon Nollsch. Daughters Irene Hagemeier and Linda Mezo are deceased.The Skowrons also have 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, with one on the way.The Skowrons enjoyed traveling. They visited England, Hong Kong, Japan and many places in the United States. Family reunions were often in Ohio state parks.
