Following his departure from AmaZulu with immediate effect, Benni McCarthy has joined six other coaches who have left their jobs vacant at clubs in the DSTV Premiership. McCarthy achieved great things with AmaZulu, such as finishing second in the Premiership for the first time in the club's history and then going on to reach the CAF Champions League group stages, but as was the case at his former club Cape Town City, there is a sudden departure. McCarthy, of course, is not the first to get shown the door or resign from a head coach role .
During the second month of the season, in September 2021, TS Galaxy ended their relationship with Owen da Gama, sacking him before bringing in Sead Ramovic as a replacement. At the time he left, Da Gama had not won a Premiership match in this campaign. In October, Frenchman Sebastien Migne was shown the door at Marumo Gallants following a poor start to the season. Dan Malesela is currently in charge at the club and has taken the club to within reach of the top eight.
Both Gavin Hunt and Brandon Truter were suspended before getting sacked at Chippa United and Swallows FC respectively. At Baroka FC, Matsemela Thoka was demoted and replaced by Kgoloko Thobejane.
