Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calls for 'a new community' in Golan Heights to be named after Donald Trump
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, fresh off an election victory that will see him lead the country for a fifth term, said Tuesday that he planned to bring forward a resolution calling for a"new community" in the disputed Golan Heights to be named after President Donald Trump.
Trump announced in a March 25 presidential proclamation that the United States recognized Israeli control of the Golan Heights, which is also claimed by Syria. The move marked a dramatic change in policy that observers speculated would boost Netanyahu's political standing at home.
