The Cincinnati Bengals announced two significant additions to their coaching staff on Monday. Jerry Montgomery joins the team as defensive line coach/run game coordinator, while Mike Hodges takes on the role of linebackers coach. Montgomery, a seasoned veteran with over two decades of coaching experience, brings his expertise from his time with the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers.
Hodges, on the other hand, arrives in Cincinnati after eight successful seasons with the New Orleans Saints, where he honed his skills as a linebackers coach. \Montgomery, 45, spent the 2024 season as the Patriots' defensive line coach. His impressive resume includes nine seasons with the Green Bay Packers, where he held various positions, including defensive front assistant, defensive line coach, and defensive line coach/running game coordinator. Prior to his NFL journey, Montgomery spent 11 years coaching at the collegiate level. His playing career saw him compete as a defensive tackle at the University of Iowa and later spent time in the Arena Football League. \Hodges, 38, brings a wealth of knowledge gained from his eight seasons with the New Orleans Saints. He served as linebackers coach for the past four seasons and began his coaching journey with the Saints as a defensive assistant. His coaching path started at Eastern Illinois University, where he spent three seasons honing his skills. Hodges' playing experience includes a standout career as a linebacker at Texas A&M University, where he even earned second-team All-Big 12 Conference honors. Notably, Hodges' time at Texas A&M coincided with Bengals head coach Zac Taylor's tenure as a graduate assistant and tight ends coach for the Aggies, marking a potential connection for the new linebackers coach
