Ben Kweller, a singer-songwriter with North Texas ties, announced on social media Tuesday that his 16-year-old son —In an emotional post on Facebook and Instagram, Kweller said Dorian Zev Kweller was killed Monday evening.confirmed in a Facebook postThe 16-year-old was getting ready to play a gig at South by Southwest in March, according to his father’s post. Kweller said his son was a “true legend,” who was the “kindest, gentle soul” and a “friend to all.
“My baby boy was at the starting line with so much life ahead of him… I have no idea why things like this happen. We’re in complete shock and don’t know what the future holds,” a part of the social media post read. Kweller, who now lives near Austin, was raised in Greenville, about 50 miles northeast of Dallas in Hunt County. Before his solo career, he helped form Radish, a post-grunge band who played a number of shows in Deep Ellum and signed a major-label record deal, as a teenager in 1993..
