Socially conscious companies Caliva and Ben & Jerry’s are teaming up on 4/20 to support the Clear My Record project, with the collective goal of raising awareness and resources for cannabis-related criminal justice reform
According to Elizabeth Smith, Spokesperson for Code For America, Clear My Record is a criminal justice program designed to clear the criminal records of people convicted of non-violent cannabis crimes who are eligible underCode for America is simultaneously working on a pilot program to expand automatic record clearing nationwide.
Despite legalization and decriminalization, the number of people arrested for a marijuana law violation in 2017 increased to 659,700 nationwide. Of those arrests, the number of people who were arrested for possession only is 599,282 , according to the. These arrests may detrimentally lock people out of employment, securing loans, obtaining housing and financial aid for education.
