Ben & Jerry’s co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield will partner with left-leaning voting initiative MoveOn to create an ice cream flavor for Vice President Kamala Harris , the group announced this week.
MoveOn will tour key swing states through its “Scoop the Vote” campaign while distributing free ice cream. The tour will raffle off free pints of the limited edition “Kamala’s Coconut Jubilee” flavor to voters. An image of the new flavor appears to show red and blue star-shaped sprinkles and a ripple of caramel atop the pint. The flavor’s title is an apparent reference to Harris’s viral 2023 “coconut tree” remark, which has since become a staple of her election campaign’s online presence.
“None of us just live in a silo. Everything is in context," Harris said during a speech at the White House. "My mother used to — she would give us a hard time sometimes — and she would say to us, 'I don't know what's wrong with you young people. You think you just fell out of a coconut tree? You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you.
“Excitement and joy are on our side right now, but we cannot lose sight of how close this election will be,” MoveOn Political Action Executive Director Rahna Epting said. “A few thousand votes will decide whether we live under a democracy with Kamala Harris or a dictatorship with Donald Trump. MoveOn’s Scoop the Vote Ice Cream Truck Tour will meet voters where they are and help mobilize our communities to defeat Trump once and for all this fall.
