Below Deck Mediterranean's Kizzi Kitchener is clarifying some misconceptions after her talked-about debut on the hit Bravo series
Below Deck Mediterranean's Kizzi Kitchener is clarifying some misconceptions after her talked-about debut on the hit Bravo series. During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Kizzi revealed whether she had any regrets since filming season 10, quipping, 'Maybe I should have kept my mouth shut in the moment, no because I would have been drunk.
One thing about me is I'm a massive lightweight as well so I'm an oversharer for sure.''In the moment, you literally forget there's a camera crew, especially when you've had a drink and these people are your friends,' she noted. 'If there weren't cameras, I can't even imagine what other people say.' She continued: 'The fact is, I chose to put myself in a position to share this information with the world. But I don't know if I would change it because it's true and it's honest. I hope it's funny and entertaining. When I'm drunk, I am an entertainer. So I will add layers to stories and definitely make them bigger and make them more exciting and fun.' Season 10, which premiered in September, reunited Aesha Scott with Captain Sandy Yawn and now-bosun Nathan Gallagher. In addition to past Below Deck star deckhand Max Salvador, the rest of the crew includes Chef Josh Bingham, stews Kizzi and Victoria SanJuan and deckhands Christian Trimino and Tessa Budd. Kizz has been a standout this season after candid admissions including her accidentally sleeping with a cult member and a comment about STDs. 'I definitely could tone it down in places but I also want to be myself and be real. These things do happen in real life and it doesn't make you a bad person,' she explained. 'The STD thing has obviously been a big topic of conversation but there's no context to it. It's not that I was sleeping around — and there's no problem with that — if it was from one person. But then I'm getting a lot of comments about being a slut because of this. There's no context behind it that people know. Watching it back, I regret sharing so much with people that aren't thinking about the context.' Kizz pointed out that the crew is 'filmed 24 hours a day and viewers see 45 minutes,' adding, 'So there's a lot that happens that you wouldn't know.' Speaking of more context, the official trailer teased a possible romance between Kizz and Nathan, who has since gotten back together with Gael Cameron and they welcomed their first child together. 'I wasn't looking for dating at all. I was single and I was seeing someone so I wasn't actually in a relationship, although it does read like that. But Tom and I had only known each other for two months,' the stew shared. 'I also literally just wanted to have fun without the pressure. I wasn't looking for someone to catch my eye. I was just looking to have fun and be me.' Kizz added: 'A lot can happen in a year and we're both in very different places now. But we were probably looking for similar things at the time and Nathan and I didn't have any connection. We hardly spoke to each other — to be honest — but the stress of work and being on a boat, I just feel like we were two people that did what you do on a boat. This is what happens in the industry. We're just two young people doing what young people do on a boat with no expectation and no connection really at all.'
