A 17-year-old photographer whose life was cut short by cancer will be remembered through an auction of her work, raising funds for cancer research . Liz Hatton, from Harrogate, tragically passed away in November after being diagnosed with a rare type of tumor. Given a prognosis of six months, Liz dedicated her remaining time to completing a photography 'bucket list,' capturing remarkable moments, including a heartwarming encounter with Catherine, Princess of Wales, at Windsor Castle.
Liz's mother, Vicky Robayna, shared that 12 of Liz's most treasured images will be auctioned off. Every penny raised from the sale will be donated to cancer research, fulfilling Liz's final wish. Liz's passion for photography shone brightly from a young age. She achieved the highest possible grade in the subject at GCSE before embarking on an A-level at Harrogate Grammar School. Among the photographs being auctioned is a particularly special one taken at the investiture of Olympic cyclist Mark Cavendish. The image, captured inside the investiture room at Buckingham Palace, features Cavendish and Prince William. Other notable photographs include shots from the Royal Ballet and Drag Race UK, as well as a stunning image of a brand new London Air Ambulance helicopter in action. Mrs. Robayna expressed immense pride in her daughter's achievements, stating that Liz was happiest behind the camera. The idea of her work being displayed in people's businesses would have been a dream come true for Liz. Mrs. Robayna revealed that Liz continued capturing images, even days before her death, finding strength and purpose in her photography. Liz's 12 images are part of a larger auction featuring 250 lots, taking place at Morphets of Harrogate on February 1st. Online bidding will also be available. The auctioneers have generously agreed to waive their hammer fee, ensuring that all proceeds from Liz's photographs go directly to cancer research. The family has also established an online crowdfunding page to support cancer research, which has already raised nearly £70,000. Furthermore, they are planning to set up a charity to assist families affected by desmoplastic small round cell tumor, the rare and aggressive cancer that Liz battled
