People are being asked to bring diaries, letters, photographs, memoirs, objects, or stories about their family’s experience in the war

Belfast's oldest library is collecting family stories of Second World War for an exciting digital archive project. The Linen Hall is working with Their Finest Hour, led by the University of Oxford and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

They will be recorded and added to the online archive.Julie Andrews, director of The Linen Hall, said: "By collaborating with ‘Their Finest Hour’, The Linen Hall is embracing a new digital era in preserving the history of the Second World War. This exciting project aligns with our mission to preserve and promote cultural heritage, ensuring that future generations can gain a profound understanding of the wartime experiences that shaped our history.

Founded in 1788, Linen Hall Library today is much more than a library. It is an accredited museum and has a world renowned collection, including 350,000 items in the Northern Ireland Political Collection.
