Artist Glen Molloy created the mural as part of a series of projects promoting positivity in East Belfast
Last year a mural celebrating Samuel Beckett on the Belmont Road was created by artist Glen Molloy as part of a series of projects in the area promoting positivity.
A few weeks after it was created, the mural was destroyed by vandals who covered the image of Beckett and one of the playwright's famous quotes with white paint. It came shortly after another mural of civil rights activist Maya Angelou painted by Glen had been ruined. Now Glen has restored the mural of Beckett back to its former glory, with the local community glad to see its return.
Alliance councillor Michelle Kelly said: "It’s great to see and a real tribute to Glen Molloy who has painstakingly restored it following such mindless vandalism. "His art has really brightened the city and provides real talking points with the positive messages they promote, as well as highlighting Samuel Beckett’s links with the area through teaching at Campbell College. I know how much it is enjoyed by both local residents and tourists alike." For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here. To sign up to our FREE newsletters, see here.
