Brian Armstrong completed his challenge on New Year's Eve and is now eyeing up a new endurance test for 2023
After completing 50 half-triathlons in just one year and writing his name into the Guinness World Book of Records, you would think Brian Armstrong would be ready for a well-earned rest.Brian completed his gruelling 'Tri50' series on New Year's Eve, finishing his 50th and final triathlon just as the curtain was coming down on 2022.Every weekend - barring one bout of Covid-19 and the recent cold snap - he took on a 1.2 mile swim, 56-mile cycle and a half-marathon .
"They led by example on how to support people. There were people there supporting me who I didn't know beforehand, but now they are friends for life. "So that scuppered my initial plans to finish the challenge by December 18, and all of a sudden I was struggling to get it done by the end of the year. He currently works for South Belfast Alternatives and is keen to help support mental health services here, as well as "motivate normal people to realise they can do extraordinary things".
"I have been constantly talking about mental health and raising awareness. And we have managed to raise about £9,000.
