At just 18-years-old, Ritzel is getting a head start on a career she has always dreamed of.
ORO VALLEY, Ariz. — When you dial 9-1-1, Makenna Ritzel is one of the many dispatchers ready to help.
Ritzel graduated from Ironwood High School and got hired on by the Oro Valley Police Department as a Public Safety Telecommunicator, shortly after. In a few years, Ritzel will be old enough to train to become a police officer. Until then, she is learning what it's like to serve the community she grew up in.
