For four years, CBS aired what would become one of the most realistic military series before its move to Paramount+, where it concluded its run. The said series is SEAL Team, created by Benjamin Cavell, which aired on CBS from September 27, 2017, to October 31, 2021, before moving to Paramount+ for the remainder of its run, from November 1, 2021, to October 6, 2024.
During its run, the military drama garnered quite the attention, especially in its final season, which was well received by the audience and critics alike. Eight years after its premiere, SEAL Team is trending on streaming after quietly resurfacing on the U.S. iTunes charts earlier this week. The action series is now progressing up the charts, less than five days after being the tenth most-watched show. Leading the titular SEAL team is David Boreanaz's Master Chief Jason Hayes, and he is joined by Fire Country's Max Thieriot , Jessica Paré , Neil Brown Jr., A. J. Buckley, and Toni Trucks. As the title implies, SEAL Team follows an elite unit of United States Navy SEALs for whom failure isn't an option, and as you can imagine, that kind of pressure can take a toll. In the series, the team trains, plans, and executes some of the most dangerous, high-stakes missions and deploys for clandestine operations around the globe at a moment's notice. These guys have to look out for one another in the face of seemingly overwhelming odds, both on and off the job. On November 15, 2023, it was announced that Season 7 would be the last, and plans for a stand-alone SEAL Team movie on Paramount+ were canceled. 'SEAL Team' Is Grounded in Reality Making up the SEAL Team is not just the regular TV cast and crew, but also several former operators with real-life experience, contributing to the series as authentically as possible. It was previously confirmed that former Navy SEALs Mark Semos and Kenny Sheard were included in the writers' room, with more than 70% of the crew also being veterans. On top of that, nearly the entire stunt team are former special operators and even Tyler Grey, who plays Trent, is a retired Delta Force operator. According to Boreanaz, a significant portion of the SEAL Team's crew, background actors, and stunt team were ex-military,"which was crucial for grounding the series in reality" and was always part of the show's mission.
