Members of Cleveland’s City Planning Commission loved seeing a presentation Friday of the Bedrock vision for a huge expansion of Tower City Center that would include a new, 12-acre park on the Cuyahoga River.

“This is really catalytic opportunity for our city,’’ commission Member Erika Anthony said Friday. “I’m thinking about someone born this year and what the city will look like for them as they enter adulthood – it’s really exciting.” It’s unclear how much the big changes to public infrastructure would cost, who would pay for them, and whether solutions could include tax increment financing, in which a portion of the tax on the increased value of property improvements would be diverted to help defray costs for roads and other items.
Friday’s meeting suggested that making changes to traffic patterns for anything as massive as the Tower City project could cause reverberations across the city.
