Rey's introduction on Jakku was a highlight of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, perfectly conveying everything the audience needed to know about her without a single line of dialogue. Jakku was also the beginning of Rey's life in the larger galaxy despite wanting to stay and wait for her family.
This dichotomy is captured perfectly in Lucky Lemon's Rey cosplay as she looks up to the sky ready for danger. Alternatively, Rey may return to help her fellow scavengers who never had a chance to leave. Tatooine may have had people like Cobb Vanth and Boba Fett after Jabba was killed, but Jakku was a much smaller settlement with scavengers working desperately for whatever scrap remained. Rey's New Jedi Order could help relocate them somewhere else or help those who want to stay build a better society.
