Uncanny X-Men #7 sees Beast confronting his dark past and rediscovering his heroic nature while trapped in Greymalkin Prison.

Warning: Contains spoilers for Uncanny X-Men #7!! The original X-Men have been through hell and back since the team's creation, and they've all hit a low point. Jean Grey had her Dark Phoenix era, Warren Worthington became Archangel, but Beast spent most of the Krakoan era acting like someone else entirely. Now, with Beast Prime long gone, and the 'new' Hank McCoy working with the X-Men , the character is finally tapping into his heroic roots again.

In Uncanny X-Men #7 – written by Gail Simone, with art by David Marquez – Jubilee, Calico, and Beast are trapped within the confines of Greymalkin Prison, built out of the former Xavier's Institute. Greymalkin is meant only to break the X-Men down and destroy them in one way or another, but it serves as the perfect platform for Beast to get back to his true roots as a hero. Even after enduring a vicious beating and being confined for defending Calico, Beast seizes the first opportunity to protect his new friends, taking down four of the prison's guards in a single impressive attack. Beast Is Finally Shaking Off His Dark Krakoa Legacy to Become A Major Mutant Hero Again Uncanny X-Men #7 – Written By Gail Simone; Art By David Marquez & Edgar Salazar; Color Matthew Wilson; Lettering By Clayton Cowles Hank McCoy's villain era lasted longer and grew darker than most of his fellow X-Men. The pressure of protecting Krakoa's sovereignty drove Beast Prime to turn his genius against his friends, force Wolverine to become a weapon again, and essentially abandon the ethics and values he held dear. The villainous Beast is dead, but the current cloned Hank McCoy still wrestles with his legacy and the lack of several years of the original's memories. Finding his place with the X-Men again has consequently been difficult, but Greymalkin Prison proves once and for all that he has all of Beast's heart
