Since joining the Bears with general manager Ryan Poles in 2022, Cunningham has been Poles' most trusted advisor. He played a key role in the Bears' extensive roster overhaul in 2022 and in shaping the current roster, which features a young quarterback and a wealth of talented skill players. Cunningham's background is steeped in the scouting expertise of Ozzie Newsome in Baltimore and Howie Roseman in Philadelphia. One league source described Cunningham as possessing 'exactly the type of temperament and scouting background teams want these days.' Schultz reported that Cunningham will most likely interview in person with Jacksonville this week, specifically on Wednesday. Cunningham was a finalist for the Titans' general manager position this offseason, but Tennessee ultimately hired Mike Borgonzi. Now, Cunningham may finally have the opportunity to secure his first general manager role. If Cunningham leaves the Bears for a general manager position, it will result in the Bears receiving two compensatory draft picks: one in 2025 and another in 2026.
