Beano illustrator David Sutherland has died
THE artist behind the Beano’s iconic comic strip the Bash Street Kids David Sutherland has died.
David spent more than 60 years with the kids’ comic and started illustrating the Bash Street Kids in 1962.Tributes have poured in for the illustrator who was described as the 'single most important illustrator in the Beano's history' by the comic's editorCredit: PA:Press Association He was described as the “single most important illustrator in Beano history” by the editor of the long-running comic.He joined the Beano having entered a DC Thomson art competition and was also responsible for drawing Biffo the Bear and Dennis the Menace, over his extensive career.In an official statement from Beano, it thanked David for “so many lols, laughs, giggles and guffaws over the years”.
"I've been so lucky to be able to do something I love for a living, and work with so many talented writers whose words have helped bring these characters to life."
