WNBA star Brittney Griner surprised fans by appearing at the annual MLK Day March in Phoenix, Arizona, with wife Cherelle, where she shook hands and posed for pictures.
Griner, 32, was in high spirits as she posed for pictures with fans six weeks after walking out of a Russian penal colony.Griner and her wife shared a laugh while riding on the back of a golf cart at the event celebrating Dr. King’s 94th birthday.The hoops star kept a protective arm around her spouse, whom she had not seen for nearly 10 months.The hoops superstar was also spotted riding on the back of a golf cart, with her arm protectively wrapped around her wife’s shoulder.
Griner returned to the US in December after being swapped for convicted arms trafficker Viktor Bout, dubbed “the Merchant of Death,” who had been serving a 25-year sentence in a US prison. Griner was initially detained in Moscow’s main airport in Feb. 2022 for being in possession of vape cartridges containing cannabis oil, which is prohibited in Russia.Griner, 32, is pictured at a penal colony in Russia, where she had been sent to serve her 9-and-a-half-year sentence for a drug conviction.On Dec. 8, Griner was exchanged for arms trafficker Viktor Bout and returned to the US.
