Health officials determined spilled sewage was absorbed into a dry creek bed and did not reach the ocean.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES — The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health on Friday night rescindedfor Aqua Amarga Creek prompted by a 30,000-gallon discharge from a blocked main line in Rancho Palos Verdes.

The closures were rescinded after department officials determined the discharge into Windport Canyon Creek and Agua Amarga Creek was absorbed into the dry creek bed and didn’t reach the ocean. The closures were for the Aqua Amarga Creek opening into Lunada Bay; 3/4 of a mile up the coast from the Aqua Amarga Creek opening into Lunada Bay; and 3/4 of a mile down the coast from the Aqua Amarga Creek opening into Lunada Bay.

Department officials recommend avoiding contact with standing water in the Agua Amarga Creek and Windport Canyon Creek beds on the Lunada Canyon Trail.
