If you want to drive on St. Johns County beaches, you’ll need to have a driving pass starting on March 1st.

The county says you’ll need to have the pass from 9 AM until 5 PM and you can use cash to buy a pass at any of the beach access ramps between that timeframe. The access points along A1A are located at A Street, Ocean Trace Road, Dondanville Road, Matanzas Avenue, and Mary Street. You can also access the beach at the Crescent Beach access point and at Porpoise Point in Vilano Beach. The county says the Vilano Beach and Fort Matanzas access points are temporally closed at this time.

between March 1st and September 30th daily passes cost $10 for both county and non-county residents, it’s $5 for handicapped beachgoers and active duty military. An ID will be needed for active military members. If you want to buy an annual pass those cost $50 for county residents, $100 for non-residents, and $40 for handicapped beachgoers. For disabled veterans an annual pass is free.
