Be fair, govt and opposition are not enemies, says Hadi

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang says the government’s refusal to give allocations to opposition MPs is ‘not the way taught by Allah’.

Abdul Hadi Awang took aim at the government for disposing of court cases involving politicians who were part of the unity government.

“The government and opposition are not enemies,” he said during the debate on the 2024 budget in the Dewan Rakyat. He said such cases included that of deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who received a discharge not amounting to acquittal in his Yayasan Akalbudi corruption case. “But their friends get DNAAs. Those that have been sentenced are pardoned and freed,” he said, without giving any example of a case where a leader who was convicted had been “pardoned and freed”.
