All the action from Radio 1's annual live music event.
All this week, the Radio 1 listeners were given their final chance to win tickets to Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2024. But it was never going to be that easy...Greg James
“Greg, you know there’s more pairs of tickets left for Radio 1’s Big Weekend? But if anyone wants them they’re going to need to find me first. I’ll reveal who I am at 8AM.” He then clarified two important details: listeners had to find him in the real world and the first two people to find him had to work independently of one another. Working in cahoots would lead to immediate disqualification. So the scene was set, but where was our mystery Melvin? The listeners quickly got to work suggesting theories.
“You can have these Big Weekend tickets and choose to split them and take one each OR you can choose to steal and take both, leaving the other person with nothing. If you both steal, neither of you will get the tickets.” Suddenly a turning point when Greg spoke to listener Jess who'd done some darn good detective work."The first clue had to be a location of some sort, something that Ali Plumb would recognise from a film or TV show. And the second clue 11, immediately you have to think Millie Bobbie Brown, immediately you have to think Stranger Things." Was Stranger Things ever filmed in Luton Jess wondered? Nothing online.
Andrea called while stationed in the Luton traffic."I think he’s at the local Hat Factory - it has a tea room next door!" So far, three out of three showdowns had ended in a steal, so Greg was curious what Rickie’s gameplan would be if put in that position. St. Albans was the next location to cross off the list, although listeners would have to travel about 10 miles from Luton itself.
