ESPN analysts Rebecca Lobo and LaChina Robinson both said Thursday that they consider the top three draft picks, in order, to be Kentucky forward Rhyne Howard, Smith, a former East Central star, and Mississippi center Shakira Austin. Those three players are among the 12 prospects who will attend the draft in person in New York.
Lobo named Smith among a handful of players who are even more impressive to watch in person than on film, particularly when it comes to Smith’s pursuit of rebounds. “Going into this season, NaLyssa was somebody that everybody in our league was aware of and knew,” Thibault said. “But I do think in preparing for the pro game, having somebody who coaches at the pro level could give her a different perspective.
