Some regions could see up to an inch and a half of rain.
Those anticipating a storm to hit the Bay Area on Saturday will be surprised to learn that rainfall totals for the afternoon and into Sunday will likely yield no more than one-tenth of an inch in the South Bay and no more than two-tenths for the East Bay region., followed by a short break on Monday, and more rain on Tuesday. Winds should top out at 15 miles per hour.
“We are still anticipating a weak frontal boundary to drop across the region this weekend,” said Roger Gass, meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “Tuesday is going to be our bigger-picture rain day.” Cloud cover will linger, with coastal regions anticipated to receive up to a quarter of an inch of rain. In the South Bay, Gass estimates total rainfall of 3/4 inch to one inch from Sunday to early Wednesday. In the East Bay, that number could reach 1 1/2 inches.
