m. near Clawiter Road and Depot Road. The California Highway Patrol's air unit first spotted the gathering, estimating roughly 60 cars at the intersection. Video from the scene shows the blue Camaro spinning in the middle of the sideshow before losing control and slamming into the truck. Video of sideshow showed that the Camaro appeared to hit at least two people during the sideshow, knocking them to the ground. Both individuals were seen getting back up, and as of Monday, no injuries have been reported. The sideshow dispersed when officers arrived. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. Police confirmed the Camaro was reported stolen out of San Jose. The incident comes as law enforcement agencies across Alameda County continue efforts to curb sideshows through the Regional Sideshow Enforcement Team, known as RESET. The task force, formed about three years ago, includes CHP and multiple local police departments including Hayward and San Leandro Police Departments. CHP Sgt. Alex Edmon said RESET was created in response to increasingly large and dangerous sideshows, where one patrol car just wasn't able to stop them. "This was a direct response to large sideshows, where you're talking more than just a couple of cars doing donuts," said Sgt. Edmon.Since mid-2023, RESET's scheduled enforcement operations have recovered more than 103 firearms, executed more than 105 arrest warrants, stopped 227 suspected DUI drivers, located 660 stolen vehicles, towed 725 cars and made 63 arrests for sideshow or reckless driving activity. Not all of those cases are directly tied to sideshows, but officials say the operations often uncover other criminal activity. Despite those efforts, sideshows continue to appear across the Bay Area, including this weekend's event in Hayward.
