One year after Campolindo went wire-to-wire atop the Bay Area News Group’s boys basketball rankings, the Moraga school will open this season at No. 10. Maybe that’s too high, maybe it isn’t. We’re about to discover what life afterand the Cougars. So, if not Campo, who is No. 1? Well, in our eyes, it was either going to be Archbishop Riordan or Archbishop Mitty. With dynamic scorerback for Riordan, plus a roster loaded with talent, we’re going with the San Francisco school.
The months of November and December are always about blending returning players with new ones, defining roles and finding the right mix for league play and the postseason. What unfolds now might not necessarily be what unfolds in a couple of months. Will Riordan go wire-to-wire atop the rankings, as Campo did last season? Not likely. That’s no knock on Riordan. We fully expect the Crusaders to be in the mix for a second consecutive CCS Open Division title and a deep run in NorCals.
