Ryan McKendry helped lead Liberty to a nail-biting victory over Antioch.

Liberty football player Ryan McKendry is the Bay Area News Group’s boys athlete for Oct. 9-14 after he received 42.30% of the vote.

McKendry caught eight passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns as Liberty, playing at home in Brentwood, edged Antioch 41-40 in a Bay Valley Athletic League game.Winners are announced each Friday on the Mercury News & East Bay Times websites and in the print edition of the Mercury News and EB Times sports sections.
