player ready... A Novato man driving a vehicle pocked with bullet holes was arrested after evading a pursuit on Highway 101, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.
A sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle traveling at about 100 mph at about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday on southbound Highway 101 near the Richardson Bay Bridge, Lt. Brennan Collins said. The driver pulled over near the Spencer Avenue exit. The deputy saw 14 “fresh” bullet holes in the vehicle, Collins said.
The driver said he was involved in a road rage incident near Novato late Monday or early Tuesday. The driver refused to exit the car and fled, Collins said. The deputy followed the driver to the Golden Gate Bridge, but authorities ended the pursuit because of the public safety risk. San Francisco police found the suspect’s unoccupied vehicle later.
Investigators identified the suspect and found him early Tuesday evening in downtown Novato. The man had suspected cocaine and carried a loaded .40-caliber handgun equipped with a high-capacity magazine, Collins said. Martin Aguilar Zuniga, 26, was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of evading deputies, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, resisting law enforcement and carrying a controlled substance while armed. He remained in custody Wednesday in lieu of $35,000 bail.
