What Indian restaurants in the South Bay have the cheapest, tastiest food? Which ones in San Francisco are expensive and overrated?
Niti says a couple things jumped out at him when making his graph. “I discovered that restaurants specializing in North Indian cuisine received higher average ratings than those specializing in South Indian cuisine. This is unfortunate, because there are many wonderful South Indian restaurants, but the cuisine is so different from North Indian food that someone new who goes in expecting naan and butter chicken/chicken tikka masala is unlikely to find it on the menu.
He also noticed some reviewers were dinging restaurants for things not related to the food, an annoyance he wishes he could excise from the data. “I’d like to be able to filter out reviews that don’t focus on the taste of the food. That way, even if there were issues with service/parking or waiting for seats, the ratings of the food’s taste would be unaffected.”
Then there’s the fact certain diners seem unfamiliar with Indian food in general. There’s not much that can be done about that — though
