Brandon Jew, the chef-owner of Michelin-starred San FranciscoMister Jiu’s, and co-author Tienlon Ho were nominated in the “restaurant and professional” category for their cookbook “Mister Jiu’s in Chinatown: Recipes and Stories From the Birthplace of Chinese American Food.”
San Francisco author Kristina Cho was nominated in the “baking and desserts” category for her debut cookbook “Mooncakes and Milk Bread: Sweet and Savory Recipes Inspired by Chinese Bakeries,” which was lauded for being the first book to exclusively focus on Chinese bakeries and cafes. Oakland-based vegan chef and author Bryant Terry was nominated twice: in the “U.S. foodways” category for “Black Food: Stories, Art, and Recipes From Across the African Diaspora” and in the “vegetable-focused cooking” category for “Vegetable Kingdom: The Abundant World of Vegan Recipes.”
San Francisco Chronicle food critic Soleil Ho also received a nomination for the Craig Claiborne Distinguished Restaurant Review Award .
