KOTA KINABALU: Batu Sapi MCA division chief Datuk Chew Kok Woh has lodged a police report in Sandakan on Sunday (July 19) after his name was misused in a WhatsApp profile spreading political messages.

Chew, who is also an MCA central committee member, said he found out about the existence of a mobile number using his Chinese name and pretending to be him after his friends alerted him.

They told him that they received political messages which they thought were sent by him through the number 017-8632616, he said in a statement to the media after filing the police report. Chew stressed that he was not involved directly or indirectly in circulating political messages, which were intended to tarnish his name, and that of the political party he represented.

"Apart from seeking police assistance to trace the person behind the mobile phone number, I have also lodged a complaint with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission . "I am also taking legal action against the owner of the mobile phone number," Chew said after making the police report on the incident.
