Batman has a bit of a reputation. The Dark Knight is not only known as the Savior of Gotham, but his raw strength has earned him as many admirers as enemies. There is no denying the power Batman wields, but if you think the hero is the strongest guy in the DC Universe, you can think again.
There are plenty of DC heroes who can show up Batman, and one of the hero's greatest creators just spotlighted two of those contenders. The breakdown comes courtesy of Tom Taylor, a New York Times bestselling writer and bonafide comics veteran. On social media, the creator responded to a comment critiquing Taylor's take on Batman. It was there the writer doubled down on his love for Bruce Wayne while asserting the truth: Batman stands no chance against Dinah or Cass. "I love Batman. I’m literally the writer of Detective Comics," Taylor wrote."He’s one of the top heroes in the world. Dinah Lance is a better fighter than him. So is Cass Cain. Batman doesn’t need you to defend him. He’s Batman." Batman Is No Match for Cassandra Cain or Dinah Lance If you are surprised by Taylor's confession, you have not been paying close enough attention to DC Comics. The publisher is never afraid to highlight Bruce Wayne's power, but it also knows when to admit the hero has been beaten. From fighting Superman to Martian Manhunter, Batman has questioned his skills time and again. In fact, Bruce was forced to face the question in Detective Comics #951 with Cassandra Cain. With the threat of Lady Shiva looming large, the comic follows Batman's family as they train in Gotham for their upcoming fight. It is there that Bruce watches Cass hone her skills, and it is there he questions himself about whether he could defeat Cass in hand-to-hand combat. Eventually, Bruce admits he's thought about the match before, and he's convinced he would"lose" if Cass tried to fight him for real. Brought up by Lady Shiva and David Cain, Cass was raised not as a person but as a weapon. Her skill set is vast, and while Cass has expanded her worldview since joining Bruce's family, her skills have not dulled. There is no denying Cass is a threat, and her 1:1 combat makes her a hard match for Bruce. The same goes for Dinah Lance given the heroine's tenure as Black Canary. The ambitious street fighter packs a punch, and Dinah can be ruthless in the heat of battle. Bruce may have brains and brawn on hand, but there is something primal in Dinah's fighting abilities that make her a major threat. Taylor clearly realizes the two women are capable of defeating Batman, and when push comes to show, even Bruce can admit to his own shortcomings against the pair.
