Retailer Bath & Body Works apologized for a candle promoted on its social media accounts displaying a snowflake, which some said appeared quite similar to a Ku Klux Klan hood. Users on X began criticizing the candle’s design Tuesday, dubbing the design a “klandle.” The company, which is known for its fragranced candles and personal hygiene products, pulled the candle from its website and apologized in a statement to TMZ.
“At Bath & Body Works, we are committed to listening to our teams and customers, and committed to fixing any mistakes we make-even those that are unintentional like this one,” the company said in an emailed statement to NBC News and other outlets. “We apologize to anyone we’ve offended and are swiftly working to have this item removed and are evaluating our process going forward.
